Ok, I admit it. I’m trying to get a whole lot healthier. For a long time I’ve been someone who exercises regularly, but I wasn’t really all too concerned about my diet, other than watching my fat intake. But then I had kids, and I started realizing, “Wow, I eat a LOT of processed foods.”
So not to get on a soap box here, but the long and short of it is: I’m trying to eat less processed foods, cook more meals at home, buy organic when possible (and it makes sense), etc. etc.
So what does all this have to do with voiceover? Well, if, like me, you tend to get that one nagging sinus infection a year that hits at the worst possible time and then seems to hang around for WAY too long, you’d probably be as desperate as I am to find as many potential cures as possible.
Hooray for the internet and its amazing searching ability!
Turns out there are a bunch of herbal throat aides out there.
Here’s what I’ve discovered:
— Slippery Elm lozenges
(for temporary relief of minor sore throat — these are actually pretty tasty!)
— Singer’s Saving Grace soothing throat spray
(found this at WholeFoods, and man does it taste AWFUL — my daughter can smell it several feet away after I’ve sprayed it in my mouth, and she covers her nose and tells me I smell bad, and even my husband leaves my general vicinity right after I’ve sprayed it…but it IS effective)
— Oregano oil
(drink a few drops in some water or juice to help with a sore throat. I even read someplace that gargling it — with water! — can actually strengthen the muscles in your throat)
So there you have it: some of the herbal throat aides I’ve found. Anyone else have any tried-and-true methods to help with throat issues?
